Who is the qualification for?
Those already employed within the sector and looking for a formal, nationally recognised qualification.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no entry requirements.

How much does the training cost?

  • Employed: Delivered under T2G if you are aged 19 or over (subject to conditions) FREE of charge.
  • Apprentices: Delivered under ‘Apprenticeship Scheme’ (subject to conditions).
  • Commercial : customised packages on request.

How will this qualification benefit me?

A practical, hands-on approach giving you knowledge and skills in the following occupational areas:

  • Access control systems
  • Intruder alarm systems
  • Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
  • Fire detection and alarm systems

How will this qualification improve my career prospects?
Potential job occupation as a Security Systems installer. Learner progression onto the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, Level 2 or 3 NVQ in Providing Security Emergency & Alarm Systems, Level 3 Certificate in Knowledge of Security & Emergency Alarm Systems.

What will I study on the course?
Candidates are required to complete 7 units.

Three mandatory units and four option units.

Mandatory Units:

  • Minimise & respond to health and safety risks in your workplace
  • Communicate effectively in the workplace
  • Contribute to maintaining effective working relationships

Option Units:

  • Make preparations & arrangements to install security, emergency or alarm systems
  • Install cabling for security, emergency or alarm systems
  • Install security, emergency or alarm equipment
  • Test and confirm operation of security, emergency or alarm systems
  • Commission and hand over security, emergency or alarm systems
  • Maintain the performance4 of security, emergency or alarm systems
  • Diagnose and rectify faults on security, emergency or alarm systems

How long will it take?
Successful completion 15 weeks.

Who is the qualification for?

There are no entry requirements.
